The Classic 12-piece set includes a 2-3/4-inch triming knife, 3-inch serrated parer, 3-1/2-inch parer, 4-1/2-inch utility knife, 4-1/2-inch multi prep knife, 5-inch santoku, 6-inch utility, 8-inch bread, 8-inch cooks, 9 steel, kitchen shears and a 17 slot storage block. Located in the cutlery capital of the world, Solingen Germany, the wusthof factory history goes back as far as 1814 when the company was listed with the duchy of berg. To this day, the company remains family owned. Throughout it’s history, wüsthof has focused almost solely on the manufacturing of forged knives for the professional chef and home cooking enthusiast. Wusthof uses a special blend of German steel through out the whole length of the knife. The ingredients of this steel are proudly etched on each blade. Wusthof not only uses the best materials to make a fine knife, but it is also crucial that each blade is precisely tempered. This tempering allows the knife to hold its edge for an extremely long time, yet still be able to be maintained in your home kitchen with out the need to be sent away for maintenance. Our unique compound angle is not seen in many knives. This angle tapers from the spine of the knife to the edge to allow for a sturdy, yet extremely sharp edge while it also tapers from the bolster to the tip to give the knife strength as well as flexibility.

Wusthof Classic 12-Piece Block Set Review

We purchased this set in February 2007. It is a pleasure to work with a quality set of knives. The knives sharpen readily and have a good heft and feel. They make working in the kitchen more enjoyable. Up until now we would have rated this set highly.

However, over the past year nearly every knife in the set and the kitchen shears have developed cracks in the handles at the or between the rivets. In some cases, the handle material has come loose entirely. We had a similar problem on one knife about two years ago and we got a replacement under warranty. We are requesting replacements for the affected blades now and hope to get a similar result.

This was disappointing. We had bought a single Wusthof Classic knfie about 25 years ago and it has been a rock solid high quality knife. That's what had led us to invest in an expensive set like this.

The only reason for 2 stars (instead of one) is that we MAY get satisfaction under warranty.

**** Edit Update March 16 2011 ** Upgrade to 4 stars (Maybe 5 IF the replacements last)

We had to pay shipping costs to return the knives for warranty inspection. Uncomfortable position to be in waiting to see if the company would agree to warranty. But we received complete replacement of all returned blades very quickly. Satisfied.

KitchenAid KP2671XWH Professional 6-Quart Stand Mixer, White Review

Please note, per the review stating that the smaller tilt-head mixer is the original design- This is the original Kitchen Aid design descended from the professional mixers used in the food industry (the Hobarts). This design is better for heavier duty use whereas the tilt-head design offers more convenience for lighter home use. As a chef, I prefer the professional model which offers more stability when mixing heavy doughs. The design with the bowl lifting up makes for a more solid motion. If you try cookie dough or scone dough on the Artisan or Ultra Power, you will notice that the head tends to shake once you add nuts or chocolate chips. It does have a lock, and while it does a wonderfully sufficient job for many uses, the Professional is definitely the choice for heavier duty mixing and regular use (more than once a week).I prefer the smaller Ultra Power in my apartment kitchen, but for my catering jobs I use the Professional since it is the perfect medium between transportability and power.Obviously most users will want and need only one. They are all excellent mixers. Considerations to keep in mind upon deciding are space limitations (the ultra power slides under my cabinets on the counter and fits under the counter), how often you use it, level of duty (do you need more than 300 watts?), budget if you question wether you need the extra power of the Pro model, chances are you will not be dissapointed with the Artisan or Ultra Power.If you are upgrading from a hand mixer or a pseudo stand mixer like a sunbeam, you will be thrilled by any kitchenaid. I am more than 100% please with this product. The versatility of arranging and reclining all pieces is pure treat. We had a table with four chairs and an umbrella on our small deck. Rarely did we go outside to use it. Now my husband and boys can't wait to go out and relax and soak up a little sun. To think I was second guessing my husband's idea to buy this set. I thought well, we'll purchase it but how often will we use it? I am quite surprised at how much we are enjoying it. Did I mention the love seat have these adorable side tables to place your food or drinks on. When you quickly glance at the photo of this furniture set, you don't really realize the functionality of the pieces. I can't wait for the weather to get warmer so I can sun bath on the love seat that opens up into a flat piece. One word the pieces are just amazing, they all recline. Love it and would highly recommend. Well worth the money. Delivery was much quicker than I anticipated too. Very pleased.

This bed is well priced, nice looking and functional. However, while we were putting it together some peices of partical board broke off around where the screws went. Fortunatly the breaks are on the inside of the bed so they can't be seen, but it does weaken the frame. One more thing is to make sure you have a thin matress to go on the top as the head and foot boards are rather low.

Repose E1000-Brown Entertainment Chair Review

I got this chair for my 15 year old grandson (gamer) for Christmas. Now he is the favored
place to play. His friends and he all enjoy it so much.
He is a large, athletic young man -- 6'3"+/ 235lbs and the chair fits him well.
It is comfortable for gaming, but he doesn't think its comfortable for watching TV.

All in All he's very pleased so I'm giving it the 5th star.
