Well, when I saw this item I was quite excited - it looked great in the pictures and seemed like it would be very good quality. So, the price seemed very good too; I bought one pretty quickly. The seller did a great job getting this item shipped promptly, so I am very pleased in that regard. Had it not been for a UPS delay, I would have had it within 3 days of purchase.

So, I received it today and the box was, overall, in good shape. The packing for this product was very good - lots of Styrofoam. Nevertheless, there were still a couple of scratches/chips, but I don't attribute that to the packaging. I think the small chip and slight scratch were done during the manufacturing process (the item is made in China). Also, the top shelf piece is slightly bowed downward in the middle and the left door doesn't fit quite right causing it to be uneven in relation to the right door and the top shelf (also caused by the bowing of the top shelf). Because of less than good workmanship, the top and horizontal rails don't come to a tight fit leaving some gaping around the top and sides. In other words, the cuts for the various pieces were not precise enough. They also used cheap fasteners - the ones that lock a stem in to place. The wooden dowels were too short so they did little to buttress the overall stability of the unit. In addition, there is no center spine for this piece so I'm certain it will begin to bow downward, over time, with the weight of my 40" LCD TV.

Overall, I would say I am disappointed in this purchase. I'm not going to send it back because it would be too much of a hassle. I'll probably end up putting it in my bedroom or a spare bedroom at some point. For the price, it's just not up to par. If it had been, say, [...], it would have been worth it. This is the last piece of furniture I will buy online, and particularly one that requires assembly. I've learned my lesson.
