I was happy to see in the instructions that assembly would only take about 1/2 hour. Unfortunately for me it was more like an hour and forty - five minutes. Most everything went together easily, but I had an issue with the holes in the top slate piece that caused all the pieces to hang unevenly. This was somewhat resolved by adding some washers. Upon plugging the unit in, it splashed heavily and poured water from the back down all the wires leaving a giant puddle on my wood floor. I then unassembled the unit and turned the pump dial down from 'max' to 'min' which solved most of the splashing problems. The directions do not mention the pump dial at all, I just happened to spot it when I was placing the pump into the base. I also think the 2.8 gallons of distilled water they instruct you to add is too much. I suspect splashing would be less and pump would run fine with about 2 gallons.

The fountain seems to splash less once you get the unit up and running and level, and improves the more it runs, but it was a huge mess setting it up. Be prepared.

Hopefully I will enjoy this, but I think I paid too much for what it is.
