I work for a conventional printer, so I work on light table all day. I stand for at least 6 of my 8 hours at work. I have gone through ALOT of floor mats over the last 25 years or so. I got my first gel about 15 years ago. It was not very reliable. I'm not sure of the brand because I ordered it through one of those generic giant office supply catalogs. It failed quickly with 2 shifts of use per day. We barley got a year out of it. When I saw this available on vine I ordered it straight away to give gel another shot.
This is a VERY stylish mat. I have the alligator skin design in hazelnut. It looks very nice. It is almost out of place to have such a nice looking mat. The rest of the shop uses the standard crown mats. Crown Comfort King Antifatigue Mat, Zedlan, 24 x 36, Royal Blue (CK0023BL)
The crowns are good mats and perfect for work. Very durable. Very inexpensive. But they are a bit utilitarian. Style is not a word that I would use for the crowns. So this GelPro fill's a perfect niche of stylish mats that folks could use in places like the kitchen in front of a butcher block where you prepare food. The only thing about that is the directions say not to use in wet environments because they become slippery with bare feet. I'm assuming they mean like in a shower or by a pool. When I did get it wet, I did not find it slippery with shoes on. It needs to be dried thoroughly after getting wet because any water under the mat will not dry and turn rancid.
Clean up is simple. Only water is recommended for regular cleaning and for stubborn soils only dish soap is recommended. Anything harsher will damage the mat.
So far it's a great mat. It is vastly more comfortable than the crowns. But the durability has yet to be determined.
The other downside is the price. Your paying for a great style. If you spent thousands of dollars on a kitchen then this should be a non-issue.

I have abused this mat for over 6 months now. The first time I cleaned it, it was pretty simple. It wiped up nicely. I have ignored it for about 6 months to really give it a workout. I have uploaded some pics if you want to check them out. (I had to initial my mat because people were trying to take it!) Keep in mind this mat is being used in a very filthy environment. Hopefully your normal kitchen wear won't get any where near these conditions. I work for a printer so we deal with a lot of paper dust and press grime. The entire plant is covered with dust and grime. I tried cleaning it up the second time and did not have as much success. The nooks and crannies in the texture were hard to clean. You can see what I mean in the close up pic that I uploaded. This would not deter me from getting this mat. Normal cleaning will avoid such a drastic situation. There has been no compression at all and it's extremely comfortable! I have had people swipe it twice! I got this for free to abuse so you won't have to. Take a look and see what you think. Hope it helps.
