There is no mixing up wool vs. synthetics, or hand-made vs. machine-made, or thick pile vs. thin pile in choosing "oriental rugs." I purchased this one to go in my bathroom in place of a typical bath mat. It works great for that, and feels okay under my feet when I step out from the bathtub. It might also be good in an entry area or other high wear zone. I wouldn't make this the centerpiece of a room used for entertaining. The colors are close but not quite the same as what is shown in the photo. The black areas of the rug show lint/hair very clearly.
